Venus Felix

This sculpture of Venus and Cupid is displayed in the octagonal Hermes Hall at the Vatican Museum. It dates back to the 2nd century AD. The face resembles Faustina the Younger, the wife of Roman Emperor Aurelius. The sculpture itself mimics the masterpiece, Aphrodite of Cnidus, by Praxiteles made in the 4th century BCE.
