Caesar and Churches

The bronze statue of Julius Caesar stands on Via dei Fori Imperiali, with churches in the background. The crosses atop the churches rise noticeably higher than Caesar’s figure. This statue, a replica of an ancient marble original, was placed there in 1936 by Dictator Mussolini. This image compresses 2,000 years of Italy’s history into one frame.
